DESCRIPTION:As October settles into its darker days\, Descent returns with its annual Halloween gathering. On Sunday\, October 19\, Descent: A Haunted Offering invites the city’s creatures of shadow to The Red Room in Vancouver for a night of music\, movement\, and beautiful decay. \nDescent has long been a cornerstone of Vancouver’s gothic nightlife. It is a space where fog machines and red lights set the mood\, where the dress code is personal\, and where the dancefloor becomes a shared act of catharsis. Whether you arrive in velvet or vinyl\, layers of lace or just good intentions\, you are part of the atmosphere the moment you walk through the door. \nThe evening’s soundtrack will be shaped by resident DJs Surreal\, Joshy Neurotic\, and MissBDeath. Each brings their own voice to the mix\, blending darkwave\, industrial\, EBM\, and synth-soaked melodies. The goal is never perfection but immersion. Tracks you forgot you loved\, new ones you will ask about later\, and enough rhythm to keep the floor restless from start to finish. \nThere are no stage gimmicks\, no choreographed tricks. The magic of Descent has always come from its people. This Halloween edition asks for nothing more than your presence and your willingness to be part of something slightly strange and entirely sincere. You will find no judgment here. Only open space\, deep shadows\, and the low thrum of connection between bodies moving through the dark. \nCostumes are encouraged\, as always. Whether elaborate or last-minute\, theatrical or quietly haunting\, your look is your own haunted offering to the night. There is no contest\, but everyone is watching. In the best way. \nDescent is not a theme party. It is not a trend. It is a tradition. One that continues to welcome anyone who feels most alive beneath red lights\, wrapped in smoke\, with music in their chest and a community at their side. \nJoin us on October 19. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES \nCommunicate your boundaries clearly to other attendees. Be clear. If you feel that setting boundaries will jeopardize your personal safety\, please approach a Descent Staff Member \n3. APPROACH DESCENT STAFF FOR SUPPORT \nApproach any Descent Staff Member for support on any issues that are a cause for concern. For confidentiality\, staff may not be able to disclose the outcomes to you. Trust that staff are following up. If you still feel it’s not being addressed\, ask to speak to DJ Surreal. \n3. HEED WARNINGS FROM STAFF \nReported inappropriate behaviour will results in warning from Descent or club staff. Staff will be monitoring for further infractions after a warning has been given. Failure to comply with requests or warnings from staff can result in being asked to leave the event. \n4. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY \nAny form of discrimination\, hate-speech\, repeated harassment\, assault\, or non-consensual behavior is grounds for immediate removal from the event and potential further consequences. Please treat all attendees and staff with respect. Let’s keep this a fun place to be for everyone!
